Master of Science Wind Engineering

The concept of the masters course in wind engineering paves the way for engineers specialised in either mechanical or electrical engineering to train as multidisciplinary and system-oriented generalists with individual areas of specialisation, as required by the relevant industry. The graduates attain the knowledge and ability to get an overview of both classical and newer generation wind turbines and systems as a whole. Their future field of activity also includes especially the planning, construction and operation of such systems and their components.

This unique degree course M.Sc. Wind Engineering is offered as part of a cooperation between the 6 leading universities in the state of Schleswig Holstein: The universities of Kiel and Flensburg, and the universities of applied science in Kiel, Flensburg and the West Coast, as well as the Nordakademie Elmshorn. The standard period of study is three semesters; the winter semesters are held at the University of Applied Sciences, Kiel, the summer semesters at the University of Applied Sciences, Flensburg. The teaching language is English. The master’s thesis can be completed at any of the participating universities, or within the industry.

Due to the great demand for technical generalists both at home and abroad, graduates of this course have excellent career prospects with manufacturers of wind turbines and components, engineering and consulting bureaus, banks and insurance companies, in the public sector, wind farm operators, and research and development establishments.
